Dhamma Sharing by Venerable Bhante Jotipala UMS students at Aloka House on 22 June 2016

On the Jun 22, 2016, There was a Dhamma Sharing by Venerable Bhante Jotipala with 40 UMS students at Aloka House from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Bhante was invited by UMS Buddhist Society to share on how to deal with everyday challenges with dhamma.

Bhante emphasized on the core values that lead to successful life such as filiar, gratitude, respect, humble, hardworking, bearing hardships, and responsibility. Bhante adviced the young people not to complain and be happy with their active roles in their own lives. Bhante said that it is important to have faith in ourselves and there is no need to compare ourselves with others because every one of us is born unique.

Bhante had given a metaphor of ‘pencil’. We are just like a pencil, the most valuable part of you will always be what's inside. When you write, you will leave your mark behind. It is okay for you to make mistakes, rub it away with eraser and rewrite your chapter. Certainly, you will become blunt and it is okay for the elders to scold us and teach us in order to become a better and sharpen pencil. For sure, you has to be humble allowing someone to hold you in their hands while writing!

It was a very fruitful dhamma sharing by Bhante Jotipala. We are so grateful to have Bhante guiding us to live by following the Buddha's path. May all of us be well and happy and let go of desire, aversion and delusion. Sadhu  !Sadhu !Sadhu !
